Call 301-639-1894 to register for Frederick County’s first children’s beekeeping course sponsored by Western Maryland Apiaries and operated through The Frederick County Backyard Beekeepers Association.. This is a children and adult class. Parent must be present during the class. A $25 materials fee applies that includes a children’s text book and the course. This is a 6 month course with the schedule determined by the participants. Additional material expenses will apply as the course progresses and the children get their bees. Possibility of grants available. Children will learn about the process of beekeeping and will have the opportunity to assemble and paint their own equipment prior to receiving the bees.
